TOOL-BASED
MIGRATION

5 steps to the goal

Quick and easy to master migration projects!

HOW TO USE TOOL-BASED MIGRATION FOR YOURSELF

Migrating processes and data from different sources is not a mammoth task. But many companies have a hard time, especially with the approach. We'll show you how to use tool-based migration in five steps.

MASTER CHALLENGES

Combining data and processes from different IT systems with different data structures pose a challenge for many companies. Often they face the following situation:

  • Existing software is outdated and is no longer maintained
  • Grown individual processes
  • Many translation programs (e.g. RTE from TradeXpress) / mappings
  • Different partner connections

But how to tackle the matter? Usually the approach is seen as the biggest obstacle:

  • Which parameters can be used to define the migration runtime?
  • How to ensure the quality and consistency of the data?
  • How can the risk of disruption during migration be minimized?
  • How many resources are being tied up in the project?

Correct and complete data are the basis for a smooth migration.

Migrate.
Very easily!

WHY EVER MIGRATE?
REASONS FOR IT - AND WHY WITH US!

  • Cost savings through complexity analysis of existing business integration systems and a fact-based estimate of the effort of migration.
This gives you resource savings between 60% and 80%!
  • Increasing software quality through intelligent test patterns in the implementation process
  • Reduction of project risk, since risks are already qualified and quantified during the analysis
  • Predictable and calculable time for conversion and production through tested solutions with predictable results
  • Reduction of changeover times through an established, model-based approach
  • Satisfaction of trading partners through noiseless migration
  • The translation code TE2 is identical in syntax and semantics after conversion to the output format

In just five steps, your migration is done!

And we offer the solution.

With edbic, our smart data and process platform integration, the concepts of enterprise service architecture and event processing are supported. The platform combines any desired endpoints, data sources, applications, services, interfaces, and workflows to create a single, end-to-end process that is orchestrated

This means: all business data of different formats and origins come together in edbic and through meaningful automation business processes will sustainably improve. edbic supports the visualization of business processes together with edpem and ensures through technical monitoring and process overview for transparency and stability (Active Cluster Architecture), for example, in internal processes (A2A) or data exchange with business partners (B2B).

Not only clean data and efficient processes ensure the way to success, but also a gradual and systematic migration with the highest possible level of automation.

That makes the difference: Here comes our translation tool and our unique project methodology with migration templates into action!

THE COMPACER TRANSLATION TOOL

In order to reduce the conversion effort of the data migration as far as possible, we use a special project methodology as well as an internal tool for the automatic translation of the code. Thus, tool-based translation of customer source code (e.g. TradeXpress) can be performed in the edbic code.

This will enable us to detect and correct bugs that the original compilers / interpreters did not notice. In addition, original variables, function names and comments are preserved. Developers immediately feel at home and can continue to maintain the edbic code.

Benefit from time savings compared to manual translation of 70% - 95%!

THE COMPACER PROJECT METHOD

Our unique project methodology makes your migration quick, easy and straightforward in five steps. And the nice thing is that your developers do not have to get used to any new code!

We usually start your projects with a proof-of-concept (POC) so you can see how automated tool-based migration is with us. Then we accompany you until the rollout and do not leave you alone until the end of the project.

Over 600 EDI messages in different syntax formats, such as EDIFACT, ANSI.X12, VDA, IDOC, XML, etc.

Volume is no problem for us! We process a large amount of data in different formats.

Standardized TE2 program code eliminates the individual code style of program developers.

On average, e.g. a TradeXpress program consists of:

  • 620 lines of code (without comments)
  • Program logic with average:
    • 6 functions
    • 32 simple branches within the program (if/else)
    • 5 complex multiple branches (switch)
    • 24 positions within an Edifact message (segment/nodein/nodeout/line)

How much staff resources would be needed to manually translate, test, and transfer into process templates?

We do that automated!
