With an established, model-based approach and automation using the tool-supported porting of message structures and processes, we could significantly reduce conversion times and manual error sources. This has reduced migration and testing efforts by 80% to 90% compared to the usual manual approach.
A complexity analysis of existing business integration systems and a fact-based estimate of the degree of migration achieved helped us save costs. Overall, we could save up to 80% in resources.

The project at a glance
The challengeOur customer found himself in a very difficult situation: the existing data integration software was outdated; it had become impossible to get extensions from the supplier and even software support had been discontinued. Therefore, they were looking for a possible successor that could meet the criteria for a modern data and integration platform, for example by offering web services or being able to cope with a high data throughput.
The decisive factor for our customer was full integration into the IBM/AS400/DB2/MQ system environment in compliance with specified budget and time constraints and the modernisation and establishment of a data integration platform for EDI services as a group application, including separate systems for development and testing.
Our solutionDecisive arguments for choosing compacer were, on the one hand, the low costs as well as the time savings that compacer had estimated for the migration project with its model-based and automated project approach. Even the customer’s internal service provider would not have been able to implement this within the given time frame or the calculated budget. On the other hand, the customer was convinced by the multifarious possibilities and the flexibility of compacer’s data and integration platform edbic during the visit of a reference implementation.
For the ultimate goal of the migration was an automated porting of approx. 1,500 mappings and all associated EDI message connections, as well as the connection of 2,400 partners with the prerequisite that this would have no effect whatsoever on the connected business partners.
The resultThanks to our model-based project method and close project controlling, we were able to easily keep to the project time frame and specified budget in this migration project. This allowed us to support the customer flexibly and wherever he needed us, to absorb peaks in the customer’s workload and to gradually take over additional tasks from the customer. We perceived this as a great sign of confidence. But it was not only compacer’s project methodology and the successful interaction that had a positive influence on the speed of the project.
