Edbic meets all the requirements of the fast-growing company and ensures better data quality

edbic and edpen together form the basis for a new e-business system that can better map the rapidly growing company. New offers from external manufacturers via the B2B gateway are automatically loaded into the store and stock levels are monitored in real time. A total of more than 300,000 article master records have been optimized in this way.

Data quality+

Increasing data quality through checking logics to automatically intercept "bad" data. This also enabled a better basis for decision-making.

Cost optimization+

Reduction in external costs for setting up, operating and expanding connectors thanks to uniform standards. Also cost-efficient connection of web stores.

Partneronboarding+

Fast and agile connection of partners to the article database.

The challenge

The company and its structures have grown very quickly in recent years. The previous infrastructure was no longer able to cope with the rapid growth of the online offering and the resulting rapid expansion of the number of supplier stores. Due to the "uncontrolled growth", there was a lack of uniform standards, which resulted in high costs for programming interfaces and connectors. In addition, the data quality left a lot to be desired, as some of the products in the database were outdated.

The solution

The current e-business system for the online store for promotional products with more than 300,000 article master records, fed by a network of promotional product retailers and suppliers, was optimized and expanded by compacer.

A 3-tier architecture was implemented and a B2B gateway was set up so that existing, heterogeneous application systems could be integrated in a process-oriented manner. Subsequently, 1,000 manufacturers were connected for the transfer of article master data.

edbic and edpem form the basis for automated onboarding of new offers in the consolidated store and also the platform basis for future adaptations of any kind. Old products were reduced in the database and product group-dependent check logics were introduced so that they could be assigned.

By using the compacer software, standards were defined and costs for setting up, operating and expanding connectors were significantly reduced. The final step was to establish automated business reporting for the platform.

Our customer

from the promotional products industry is part of Europe's largest corporate network in this sector. The network has a total of over 6000 members. These include agencies, manufacturers, retailers and importers.

The service to members includes the provision of a network platform, product research (electronic and personal) and various online services. These services in particular are required for successful market access, which is why an e-business platform had to be set up.
